Ski ZURICH

Many of Switzerlandís top ski resorts are scattered outside Zurich, but there are many roads, airlines and trains available that can take you to your chosen resort without hassle. But with so many resorts on offer, it can be difficult to choose where to go, so here is a quick guide to some of the most famous resorts in Switzerland.

Renowned as the ëportal to the alpsí, skiing near Zurich promises some of the best skiing in Europe, with over 40 million skiers heading there every year. One of the best known resorts is Grindelwald, located two hours drive away from Zurich airport, this ski haven lies in the shadow of the Eiger and Jungfrau mountains. Open all year round, Grindelwald boasts a rich history and is great for families.

If you fancy going somewhere quieter, then nearby Murren promises a much more tranquil and relaxing ski experience. Located a three hour drive away from Zurich, also in the Jungfrau ski region, this resort is less commercialised than others in the surrounding area. Completely car free, this village is inaccessible to cars in the winter due to heavy snowfall.

If money is no object, then perhaps a visit to St Moritz is in order. Billed as the ëSt Tropes of ski resortsí, the resort is three and a half hours away from Zurich. The ski destination of the rich and famous, this resort has been an exclusive getaway for 150 years. Featuring great off-piste terrain, an average of 322 days of sunshine a year and a great nightlife, St Moritz is one of the more expensive resorts in Switzerland.
